Masala paste or bhuna masala is a balanced blend of onion, tomato, garlic, ginger, and freshly ground spices like garam masala and turmeric to use as a base sauce or marinade for your favorite Indian curry dishes.
Can be used to make delicious curries, lentils, rice dishes, or as a marinade. Mild in heat, but full of flavor.
For Sauce (2 servings): Heat 2 tsp of oil in a saucepan. Add 1 cup your choice of protein or veggies. Cook on medium-high heat until seared. Stir in 4 tbs masala paste & 1/2 cup water. Add salt & chili flakes to taste. Reduce heat to simmer. Fully cook. Add cream or coconut milk for a creamier sauce.
For Marinade (2 servings): Toss 2 tbs of masala paste with 1/2 cup protein or veggies. Add salt or chili flakes to taste.
